Welcome to our Terpene Spotlight, each month we want to cover a different terpene found in the cannabis plant and talk about the amazing characteristics and benefits.
Which better terpene to start with than one of the most unique and interesting: Beta-Caryophellene!
Beta-Caryophellene is an anti-inflammatory sesquiterpene. A compound commonly found in rosemary, cloves, cinnamon, hops, black pepper and cannabis sativa.
This terpene has a unique chemical structure making it a rare occurrence in nature. It’s a bicyclic sesquiterpene, meaning that it has 2 adjoining rings in it’s structure and consists of 3 isoprene units with the general formula of C15H24…. OK so you’re thinking what does this have to do with me?
It’s August and it’s HOT and HUMID. I’ve been on a popsicle kick since rediscovering my zoku popsicle maker and these fun push-pop-esque popsicle molds from long ago. Combine that with delicious, ripe melons from the local farms and friends and I’ve been making fruity popsicles ever since.
Pennsylvania is now one of the 30 Legal Cannabis states and 1 of 22 Medical only programs in the country. Hopefully that changes soon and recreational cannabis sales will pass, but nothing on the ballots…yet.
I few months ago I received a Kris Nations necklace in my Summer FabFitFun box. Not only was the necklace cute as hell -you should absolutely check out her stuff-, but it also came packaged in a sweet little glass vial. I am a sucker for good packaging.
Yes, it is officially that time of year. Cold season is upon us. Did you know that the common cold is responsible for up to 40% of all employee absences from work? Well, it’s true! No matter how hard we try to maintain our health sometimes we just get sick. We can do all the right things in terms of supporting our immune system
A friend’s seventeen year old son, who when busted for smoking weed was asked, "why he felt the need to use the drug” so eloquently responded, "because it is like a massage for my brain.” I mean can you really argue with that logic. I can absolutely relate to his sentiments.
I’m lucky my job requires me to be in a creative zone on a regular basis. The thing is sometimes it is just really nice to create something just for the sole purpose of letting your creativity flow. Fuck the outcome! Creating something with out any expectation of how it may or may not turn out is completely and utterly freeing. One of my favorite Sunday rituals is taking a few hours to hide away in my office/studio to allow absolute creative.
If you didn’t catch our newsletter this month and you're not already in the know it is Hemp History Month. In honor of Hemp History Month Anna and I are gearing a few our our posts to educating about hemp history. This is our second post in the series and we are covering Hemp History within the Textile and Fashion Industry.
HEMP!!! What is hemp? I believe Hemp is the most versatile and valuable crop that exists. It can be extracted into a powerful concentrated oil that is healing people all across the nation, it can be used to make paper, clothing, building materials, biofuels and anything that is made out of plastic AKA if our nation didn't restrict hemp a majority of our products would be in hemp packaging today instead of horrible plastic.
Terpenes are a universal language- understood by plants, bacteria, fungi, and humans alike. They facilitate inter-species communication, serve as personal defense mechanisms, and largely create the flavor and aroma of plants. Terpenes are AWESOME!!
Whether you're sore from tearing it up at the gym or just plain achy from the way you sit at your desk all day it important to show your muscles some love. So here it is an easy to make muscle rub to help ease inflammation and induce relaxation.
Eating, cooking, and cannabis are three subjects I am highly passionate about so edible experimentation was of course a part of the logical progression of my love affair with all three. Experimentation first came in the form of my friend’s and I trying to out do each other and make the “strongest brownies” in high school. There is no big surprise that at 17 years old and without the internet resources that are available today, my friends and I had no actual clue what we were doing. I laugh/cringe at the mistakes I have come to realize we were making during the days of our first cannabis culinary adventures. I
Weed is everywhere right now, well not literally, but it’s getting pretty close! There’s a lot to learn about cannabis and we continue to discover more about this amazing plant everyday. Here are some basics to jump start your cannabis knowledge.
