Runway Trends Á La Athleisure
The end of the summer marks the beginning of sweater weather for me. I pretty much look forward to every upcoming season because it means a change up in my wardrobe. I believe this to be one of the many indicators as to how style/fashion obsessed I am. I am certain that I am not the only one out there who feels this way. Can I get an Amen from any other ladies out there who were lusting for the new fall trends by like July 5th?!?!?!
Don’t get me wrong I’m sad to part with warm summer days but I’m ready to rock the new trends. Now that Labor Day has passed, marking for many the official end of summer, I think it is appropriate to dedicate a post to fall fashion. We have chosen for you Six of the biggest trends seen on the runways for Fall 2017. Being that we are both super active and never want to sacrifice style for function or vice versa we have picked out some great athleticwear/ athleisure pieces to correspond with each trend. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t bring runway trends into the gym or onto the mat. I have a ton of options for us athletic fashionistas that prove otherwise.
An additional note about our style list: Under each style list you will notice that some of the items appear with the caption "Conscious Style Pick." What exactly does that mean? Basically we would like to give recognition to any brands on our style list that not only make products that are cute as f*ck, but whom are socially and/or environmentally conscious as well.
I want to hear what your trends you babes are excited for this fall?
Space Age Metallics
There was a ton of shimmer and shine at the Fall 17 shows this past spring. Designers offered all sorts of ways to dress like the disco ball of your dreams this season.
Red Is The New Black
With both Grenadine and Tawny Port both making Pantones's list of top ten colors for fall, red is undeniably the new black. I think my staple black leggings may need to be swapped out for one of these luscious red pairs below.
All Tied Up
The fall runways had many deconstructed pieces that were slice, diced, and seemingly tied back together. This wave of deconstructed garments in conjunction with the corset renaissance of spring has me sweating in pieces with tied or laced up details.
Soft As Velvet
Designers are crushing on velvet and so am I. The trend made its grand entrance back onto the runways last fall. The prodigal trend had such a welcomed return that there is no wonder it has stuck around for another fall season. I know it is hard to imagine velvet being used in athletic wear but trust me a soft velvet sweatshirt or jogger is the perfect layering piece to take you to and from the gym.
Literally seeing stars everywhere!!!! This street fashion trend seems to be a reoccurring theme that translates across all women’s product categories, inspiring prints, patterns, graphics and appliqués that decorate items ranging from footwear and jewelry to denim. I would say that footwear seems to be embracing this trend more then any other category. The looks range from glitzy to grunge but the one thing they all have in common is that they are absolutely whimsical.
Love it or hate the color block trend of 2017 is here to stay for the fall. Personally I’m not the biggest fan of this trend but I can certainly appreciate bold color play. I found myself particularly drawn to Raf Simon’s bold color mixing for the fall Calvin Klein collection.
