I am a morning person. I am admittedly the annoying type of morning person. The one who upon opening their eyes is ready to have a full on conversation with anyone who will listen. This is my personality, but it does not mean that it is always easy for me to get myself up. I’m a busy girl, as are many of you, and try as hard as I might I don’t always get myself in bed early enough to get the prescribed 7-8 hrs of sleep a night. It is often extremely hard to drag my ass out of bed in the morning, however I make it a priority to try and utilize the earlier am hours as often as possible.
A solid AM routine can really set the tone for your day and set you up for success. We have been dialing in our mornings to maximize time and promote health. Here’s exactly how it goes down for each of us every day and WHY you should pick up some of these hacks for your AM.
Reality is I may click snooze a few times before getting up (“bad” habit) working on it, but in all honestly not always as bright eyed and busy-tailed jumping out of bed in the AM.

Which better terpene to start with than one of the most unique and interesting: Beta-Caryophellene!
Beta-Caryophellene is an anti-inflammatory sesquiterpene. A compound commonly found in rosemary, cloves, cinnamon, hops, black pepper and cannabis sativa.
This terpene has a unique chemical structure making it a rare occurrence in nature. It’s a bicyclic sesquiterpene, meaning that it has 2 adjoining rings in it’s structure and consists of 3 isoprene units with the general formula of C15H24…. OK so you’re thinking what does this have to do with me?
I am blessed to be able to travel A LOT and to have seen a lot of places. I remember the first time I went to Europe was when I studied abroad in college and that opened my eyes to new cultures and I of course fell in love with travel, culture and wanting to explore as much of the world as I could.

As the seasons change and the sun starts to set earlier our natural instinct to light some pumpkin spice scented candles and warm the home with the glow and smells of fall. I love the glow of candles and the ambience they set, but I refuse to turn a blind eye to the scented candles and all of the chemicals they infuse into the home.
The gasping breath is said to emulate the last breath we take in life before we die. I’m not sure what the significance of this is, but once you have gotten the hang of breathing like this and your mind can focus on meditation is when the really trippy stuff can happen.
It’s August and it’s HOT and HUMID. I’ve been on a popsicle kick since rediscovering my zoku popsicle maker and these fun push-pop-esque popsicle molds from long ago. Combine that with delicious, ripe melons from the local farms and friends and I’ve been making fruity popsicles ever since.
We love the sun. Vitamin D deficiency is REAL like REALLY REAL for all of us in the Northern Hemisphere. If you don’t know about it read my in depth article here. A recommended 20 minutes of unprotected sun is great for Vitamin D absorption, but as we get older we realize the damaging effects the sun can have on your skin specifically the YOUTHFULNESS. Insert early onset wrinkles and sun spots. No thanks.
Pennsylvania is now one of the 30 Legal Cannabis states and 1 of 22 Medical only programs in the country. Hopefully that changes soon and recreational cannabis sales will pass, but nothing on the ballots…yet.
Who doesn't love a good Tan? I was all about fake baking as a teenager. It was a bad, bad habit, but despite how bad I knew it was I wouldn’t stop. It took a friend with a melanoma scare from a tanning bed that made me promise to stop I finally got out of the tanning bed routine. I love worshipping the sun and still enjoy being in the sun and getting some Vitamin D. Now I am aware of the damage to my skin that I was doing basking away in the sun while simultaneously aging my skin. One thing you can’t deny is the accelerated aging of your skin from exposure to sunlight. Elders would always tell me about the dangers of tanning and the sun and now I wish I would have listened. Now I lather up ORGANIC SPF and layer clothing for protection + hat and enjoy the summer heat.

A great motto for life, as well legit advice for breaking up with your sugar addiction. When my cravings hit their worse, ultimately it was my spice cabinet that kept me from running to the store for a bag of Gluten Free Tate’s Cookies. The thought may have occurred to me on one, two, or ten occasions. My cravings for sweets are always at it’s worst post meal time. I’ve got that savory taste on my tongue and I just want something to balance it out.

Charcoal has been having a moment! Over the last year I have seen countless charcoal beauty and wellness products advertised across all forms of social media. We are all looking for the fountain of youth for skin care. I only recently realized that I need to take better care of my skin. Once I brought awareness to it, my skin keeps getting brighter, clearer and more glowy so I feel like I have to share one of my skincare secrets.

I feel like everyone, regardless if you consider yourself a sweetaholic or not, could benefit from the occasional sugar break. Sugar is literally lurking everywhere. Used in approximately 75 percent of packaged foods purchased in the United States, most of us, myself included, don’t even realize how much sugar we actually take in every single day. The average American consumes anywhere from a quarter to a half pound of sugar a day. Every time I read this statistic my mind is blown.
LA LA Land. As a former So-Cal-ian I was always popping up to LA for the weekend and exploring, then my cousin/BFF (@cheeseboardandchill) moved there and I was there even more. One time I went to an Alpaca marketplace in Denver and it turned out they not only had alpaca wares it was a full on ALPACA CONVENTION! Ever since I have been moderately-severely OBSESSED with alpacas. LIIIKe they are the fluffiest things on the planet. They are so adorable and the best part is they are SUSTAINABLE.
I know it seems crazy to be thinking of summer and even mentioning bikini season in February, but now is the time to start focusing on your fitness goals for that summer body. The end of February/ early March has always been the time that I kick my ass into gear to get ready for summer.
